Army for knives

The Selfservatives proposed bringing in the army to deal with knife crime. They were serious. But exactly how is the army supposed to deal with that? There is a reason the police and the military are separate: the police are intended to protect the people, while the military is intended to fight the enemy. When you ask the military to do the job of the police, all too often, as the Americans have found out by militarising their police, the people become the enemy.
