Alien Instructions, video 0: 2024 Intro

By Douglas “Jalnor” Carr

Published 15th February, 2025

Greetings, Earthlings!
I'm Douglas, known to a vast number of people as Jalnor – for a complicated reason that boils down to “it sounds alien.” For most of my life, I knew I was different than most humans – I identified more with certain non-human characters in Star Trek than with my peers; I understood them better. I felt like an alien and was often treated like one. Turns out I'm autistic – and currently chasing a diagnosis, but also lazy. Chances are my brain works more like Mr. Data's or Mr. Spock's than like yours. That gives me a fairly rare perspective on the world and how to use the things in it – made much more helpful by hyper focus and the unusual way I retain information. In some ways, autism can be a disability, for some more than others... in this way, for me, it's a super power. I see, analyse and retain things that pass others by. So I've set up this channel to help all you non-aliens improve your performance at everyday things – do more stuff, better, in less time for less effort. Welcome to Alien Instructions.
